About Self-Defense

We do not claim to be the "Ultimate System" for self-defense, because we believe that there is no such thing.
Our belief is that self-defense is about protecting your body in any way necessary. The best protection is avoiding dangerous circumstances, but violent crime is sometimes unavoidable. When faced with violence, we must be prepared to defend ourselves from harm.
Our goal is to equip you for self-defense to the level you choose to prepare for with the purpose of allowing you to escape violent situations and reach safety as quickly as possible.

Some of the things you will learn:

  • Kicks, punches, blocks
  • Joint locks and throws
  • Weapons
  • Grappling

Fighting is not Self-Defense

Students who consistently train with us become fully equipped to excel in the Sport of Martial Arts competition. This is what we call "Sparring", and is in no way similar to self-defense.
Competitive Martial Arts events are enjoyable opportunities to test our skills against other Martial Arts practitioners. The difference between Kung Fu for Sport and Kung Fu for self-defense is that in self-defense our opponent intends to violently harm us, leaving us with the single objective of protecting ourselves and those around us from harm.
We are confident you will find our Kung Fu is superior for the purpose of Self-Defense.

Our Principles

Health, Spirit, Discipline, and Self-Defense

  • Health: Brings strength, longevity, and happiness
  • Spirit: Brings focus, meditation, and peace of mind
  • Discipline: Brings physical and mental control
  • Self-Defense: Brings protection and self-confidence

Health (noun) - the general condition of the body or mind with reference to soundness and vigor.
We are here to help you reach your personal health & fitness goals with the centuries-proven practice of Kung Fu. Kung Fu is excellent for mental clarity and stress management.
Kung Fu is excellent for cardiovascular and muscular fitness, flexibility, and improving chronic issues that often result from injuries, disease, aging, nutrition and posture.

Spirit (noun) - excellent disposition or attitude in terms of vigor, courage, and firmness of intent.
One meaning of Kung Fu is "skill cultivated through long, hard work".
This is the meaning we embrace. It is this meaning of Kung Fu that we see building the Spirit of our students and helping them to achieve goals they may have never otherwise attained.

Discipline (noun) - Activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill; training.

Personal experience and seeing the discipline of Kung Fu at work in the lives of our students has shown us that the physical and mental control developed by training in Kung Fu helps people live life to the fullest.

Self-Defense (noun): The act of defending one's person when physically attacked as by countering blows or overcoming an assailant.
